Intermediate Strings Teacher
Becky Cummings’ musical career took off during her high school years. She attended Interlochen National Music Camp for 3 years and played in the World Youth Orchestra. She received medals and honors for her outstanding performances. During her high school senior year, Becky earned a scholarship to attend the Wichita State School of Music.
During her college years she was an assistant teacher at Brevard Music Camp in North Carolina. In 1982, Becky graduated from Wichita State school of music in Kansas, with a degree in music performance and music education. She met and married her husband, Mark Cummings, in 1985 and moved to Sheboygan WI, Toledo, OH, Naperville IL, finally, to Appleton. Becky stayed home to raise their three children, but continued private teaching and playing in symphonies.
Becky’s symphony career spans 40 years. She played in the Wichita Symphony, the Toledo Symphony, and the Fox Valley Symphony.
Becky taught middle school and elementary school violin, viola, cello and bass in the Wichita School District, and currently in the Appleton Area School District, at Ferber Elementary School.
Becky and her husband have three adult children, Erin, Andrew, and Amy. Erin, married last year and she’s an art teacher and high school dance coach in the Seymour School District. Andrew is a computer science major employed at ESC in Little Chute. Amy, also a violinist, is a music education major at the University of Minnesota.
